POLICY FOR INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WITHIN THE CAMPUS
POLICY OF INCLUSION AND ANTI-DISCRIMINATION
- To ensure effective implementation of UGC- Equal Opportunity Centre in Colleges guidelines.
- To ensure equity and equal opportunity for the disabled in the college.
- To create a socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and growth of the physically/mentally disabled.
- To help them deal with the problem of discrimination.
- To look into the grievances of the disabled and offer amicable solutions to their problems.
- To prepare barrier free formalities/ procedures for admission/ registration of students belonging to this group.
- To provide best possible support in the form of available infrastructure, supportive staff and strict adherence to disabled friendly policy guidelines.
COUNSELLING AND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
There is a provision of counselling facilities for mental health needs of people with disabilities. Conducting of remedial classes for students with disabilities. In deserving cases such cases may also be referred to the Parent Organisation i.e. IMT for grant of scholarships. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell is itself undertaking the wellbeing of the disable community into view and for any guidance or assistance the students are directed to contact the IQAC.

- Availability of suitable software for disabled in the College library.

- Medical support if required.
- Provision of sports and wellness facilities.
- Provision for counseling and remedial classes as and when required.
Scope
We in IITM believe in promoting and inculcating values of equality, justice and compassion by making our students aware of the disadvantaged sections of our society and trying to eliminate social exclusion. We believe in promoting rights and dignity of each individual by focussing on inclusion of people with disabilities.
